Your Tractive tracker comes with three power modes, so you can choose what matters most to you: a longer battery life or more detailed tracking. Think of it like the eco, normal and sport modes in some cars. Here’s how each mode works and how to switch between them.
Power modes are available on select Tractive tracker models. To see if your tracker has them, go to the Tractive app and check if Power Mode appears for your device.
The three power modes
Balanced (default)
Balanced is the default mode for all new trackers. It offers the best balance between battery life and tracking quality, and it’s the right choice for most pet owners.
Low Power
In Low Power mode, your tracker saves battery by recording fewer positions and uploading them less often. Your tracker still works normally, but your pet’s location history will be less detailed and Virtual Fence alerts might arrive a little later. It’s the best mode if you don’t check the app constantly and want to make your battery last as long as possible.
Precision
In Precision mode, your tracker updates your pet’s location more often and with slightly improved GPS accuracy. Your walk history will also look its most detailed. All this uses more battery, so choose this mode if accuracy matters more to you than battery life.
Which mode should I choose?
If you’re not sure, start with Balanced. Battery life depends on many factors, such as how you use your tracker and the cellular coverage in your area, so the best way to find the right mode for you is to try them out. You can switch at any time.
LIVE Tracking works in every mode
Turning on LIVE Tracking always gives you real-time updates every 2-3 seconds, whatever power mode you choose. So when you really need to know where your pet is, you’re always covered.
Power modes and Power Saving Zones
Power modes don’t replace Power Saving Zones. A Power Saving Zone still saves battery when your tracker is connected to your Wi-Fi in a safe area, such as your home, whatever power mode you’ve selected.
I was already using Low Power Mode. Do I need to do anything?
No. If you had Low Power Mode turned on, your tracker will stay in Low Power mode. You can switch to Balanced or Precision at any time.
