How to set up your CAT 6 Mini

Your CAT 6 Mini is ready to help you track your pet's location and health. Here's how to set it up and start tracking in about 15-20 minutes (plus 2 hours for charging).

Before you start

For the best setup experience, we recommend:

Charge your tracker fully first. Your tracker comes partially charged, but a full charge ensures it won't die during setup. A full charge takes about two hours.

For complete charging instructions, see: How to charge your tracker

Set up your tracker

Step 1: Download the Tractive app (2 minutes)

Download the Tractive mobile app from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android). You can also scan the QR code on the quick start guide that came in your box.

Step 2: Turn on your tracker (30 seconds)

Press and hold the power button on the side of the tracker for 3 seconds until you see LED lights. This means your tracker is on and ready to connect.

Step 3: Activate your tracker in the app (5-10 minutes)

Open the Tractive app and follow the in-app instructions to activate your tracker. The app will walk you through:

  • Creating your account (or logging in)
  • Connecting your tracker via Bluetooth
  • Choosing your subscription plan (requires your payment information)

Your tracker needs an active subscription to send location data over cellular networks. The subscription includes unlimited tracking, health monitoring, and all app features.

For detailed activation help, see: How to activate your tracker

Step 4: Adjust the collar for your cat (1 minute)

Adjust the breakaway safety buckle based on your cat's weight. Find the red slider on the collar clasp and slide it to the setting closest to your cat's weight.

For detailed weight settings and how the breakaway mechanism works, see: How to use your Rogz collar

The breakaway collar is a safety feature. If your cat gets caught on something, the collar releases automatically to prevent injury.

Put the collar on your cat:

  1. Fit the collar around your cat's neck with the tracker on top (not underneath).
  2. Check the fit by sliding two fingers between the collar and your cat's neck. It should be snug but not tight.
  3. Secure the side release buckle. Press both sides together until you hear a click.

💡 Tip: Some cats need time to get used to wearing a collar. If your cat seems uncomfortable at first, this is normal. Let them wear it for short periods and gradually increase the time. Most cats adjust within a few days.

Step 5: Check that tracking is working (2-5 minutes)

Open the Tractive mobile app to see your pet's location on the map.

It may take a few minutes for the first location to appear while the tracker connects to GPS satellites and cellular networks. Once connected, you'll see your pet's position on the map.

To check the connection, press the power button briefly to see the LED lights:

  • Green lights = Good connection. You're tracking!
  • Red lights = No cellular or GPS connection. Move your pet near a window or outside.
