Why does Tractive require a subscription?
Your Tractive tracker sends and receives GPS position data using cellular networks across over 175 countries. To make this possible, your tracker is equipped with a SIM card that connects to one of our 500+ network partners worldwide.
The subscription fee covers these cellular network costs, so you can track your pet in real-time anywhere in over 175 countries. Learn more about how Tractive works.
Is there a tracker with no monthly fee?
No. Trackers with real-time tracking require cellular connectivity, which means ongoing network costs. Without a subscription, your tracker can't communicate its location to you.
Why subscriptions are necessary: GPS trackers need cellular networks to send location data to your phone. These network costs are ongoing, so trackers with real-time GPS tracking always require a subscription.
What subscription plans does Tractive offer?
Premium:
- Works in 175+ countries
- 365-day location history
- Public & Family Sharing
- Export location history
- Available: Yearly, two-year, or five-year billing
Basic:
- Works in one country only
- 24-hour location history
- No Family Sharing
- Available: Monthly or yearly billing (in select countries only)

How much does a subscription cost?
Subscription prices vary by:
- Plan type (Premium or Basic)
- Billing interval (monthly, yearly, two-year, five-year)
- Your country

Can I pay monthly?
For Basic: Monthly payment is available in select countries. Check our Plans and Pricing page to see what's available in your region.
For Premium: Monthly payment is not currently available. Premium subscriptions are offered with yearly, two-year, or five-year billing.
Getting started
How do I activate a subscription?
There are two ways to activate:
Option 1: Buy tracker + subscription together on tractive.com
When you purchase a tracker and subscription together on tractive.com, we automatically add 7 extra days to your subscription to cover shipping time. This means your subscription starts when your tracker arrives, not when you order it.
Your tracker and subscription will be linked to the email address you used for your order.
Option 2: Activate later
If you bought your tracker from a retailer or want to activate it separately, see How to activate your Tractive tracker.
Using your subscription
Can I track my pet from multiple phones with one subscription?
Yes! One subscription lets you sign in to your Tractive account on multiple devices at the same time. You and your family can track your pet from different smartphones using the same account.
You can sign in through:
- The Tractive mobile app (Android, iOS)
- The web app at my.tractive.com
- Public Sharing
- Family Sharing (Premium only)
Do I need separate subscriptions for each pet?
Yes. Each pet needs:
- Their own tracker
- Their own subscription
Why? Only one tracker can be linked to a subscription at a time. If you have multiple pets, each one needs their own tracker and separate subscription.
Managing multiple pets: You can manage all your trackers and subscriptions from one Tractive account. Just add each tracker to your account separately.

Returns and cancelation
Can I cancel if I'm not satisfied?
Yes. We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee.
If you bought your tracker on tractive.com
- You can return your tracker within 30 days of receiving it.
- Both the tracker and subscription are refunded within the first 30 days.
After 30 days
- You can still cancel your subscription anytime.
- Once you cancel, your tracker will remain active until the end of your current paid subscription period.
- No refunds are available after 30 days.

Changing your plan
Can I upgrade from Basic to Premium?
Yes, you can upgrade anytime. Your upgrade takes effect immediately, and you'll be charged a prorated amount for the remaining time on your current subscription.
Can I downgrade from Premium to Basic?
Yes, but the change takes effect at your next renewal date (not immediately). You'll keep Premium features until your current subscription period ends.
Note: Basic isn't available in all countries. If you don't see Basic as an option, it's not available in your region.
Can I pause my subscription?
Yes, you can pause your subscription for up to 3 months. This is helpful if you're temporarily not using your tracker.
