How to attach the tracker

All Tractive GPS trackers are designed to fit comfortably on your pet's collar, but the exact attachment mechanism varies by tracker model. Find your device below to learn how to attach your new GPS tracker to your pet.

Note: Tracker availability varies by country. Please visit www.tractive.com to see which Tractive GPS trackers are available in your country.

Tractive GPS DOG 6 (Europe only)

The Tractive DOG 6 can be attached to collars and harnesses with a maximum width of 3cm*. Remove the collar from your dog then lay it on top of the rubber clip. Next, secure the tracker to the clip using the two hooks on each side (B).

If your dog wears a narrow collar, make sure to weave the collar through the holes in the center of the clip to ensure the tracker is secure (A).

*Additionally, if the provided clip doesn't fit your dog's collar, you may wish to consider purchasing a Fabric Clip. These clips come in two sizes: S (for collars up to 2.5cm), and L (for collars up to 5cm).

To attach your tracker using the fabric clip, follow the steps below:

  • Remove the collar from your dog
  • Place the fabric clip on the back of the collar, ensuring the Tractive logo is aligned parallel with the collar
  • Position the tracker on the front of the collar, then secure it by looping and fastening the four elastic bands

Tractive GPS DOG 4 / DOG LTE

The Tractive GPS DOG LTE tracker can be attached to collars with a maximum width of 2.8 cm (1.1 in) using the regular clips, or 3.4 cm (1.3 in) using the XL clips. To attach this tracker to your pet's collar, remove the collar from your pet and continue like so depending on the width of the collar:

  • Collar width 1.5 cm or less: Remove the rubber clip, put the collar through the two rectangular holes on the sides of the rubber clip, and fasten the rubber clip to the tracker again.

This breakaway mechanism can be easily adjusted by moving the red slider on the collar from one side to the other.

The slider is usually set to the smallest setting by default, so you might have to adjust it depending on your cat’s weight.

Here’s an approximate weight guide:

  • Lowest setting: 6.6lbs - 11 lbs (3kg - 5kg)
  • Medium setting: 11lbs-19lbs (5kg - 8.5kg)
  • High setting: 19lbs + (8.5kg +)

Tractive GPS CAT 4 / CAT LTE

The GPS CAT 4 / CAT LTE comes with a rubber collar attachment/sleeve and fits collars up to 2 cm wide. Place the tracker inside the rubber sleeve and then thread the collar through the loops of the sleeve. When you purchase the tracker, you can choose to include the Rogz collar with your delivery. This collar features a weight-adjustable breakaway mechanism, which will break away in case your cat gets caught, reducing the risk of strangulation or injury. Move the red slider on the collar from one side to the other to adjust the breakaway mechanism.

We recommend that you let your pet get acquainted with the new device by wearing it indoors and turned off for 1-2 days before first use. This way you can observe how the dog or cat responds to wearing their GPS tracker and adjust the attachment as necessary.
