Frequently asked questions
Can I use a dog tracker on my cat?
Technically yes, but dog trackers are heavier. We recommend CAT 6 Mini or CAT Mini for cats since they're specifically designed to be lighter and more comfortable.
What's the difference between DOG 6 XL and DOG XL Adventure?
DOG XL Adventure has a more rugged, durable design for extreme outdoor conditions.
Do all trackers have the same features?
No. Newer models (DOG 6 series and CAT 6 Mini) have more health features than older models. See the comparison table above or check the complete feature comparison.
Can I upgrade my old tracker to get new features?
Features are hardware-dependent, so you'd need to purchase a new tracker model. You can transfer your subscription to a new tracker when you upgrade.
Which subscription do I need for each tracker?
All trackers work with both Premium and Basic subscriptions (where Basic is available). The tracker model doesn't determine which subscription you need. Compare subscription plans.
Which cat tracker should I choose?
Choose CAT 6 Mini if you want Territory tracking and full health monitoring (RHR, RRR). Choose CAT Mini if you need reliable tracking with basic health features (Activity and sleep) at a lower price point.
Important to know
Pet and size matter. Choose a tracker designed for your pet type (dog or cat) and consider your pet's size. Lighter trackers will be more comfortable for smaller pets.
Newer models have more features. DOG 6 series and CAT 6 Mini have the most advanced health monitoring features. CAT Mini and DOG XL Adventure have essential tracking with some health features.
Battery life varies significantly. DOG 6 XL models last longest (8-30 days), while smaller trackers need charging more frequently. For cats, CAT 6 Mini offers more days than CAT Mini with Power Saving Zones.
All trackers need subscriptions. Every tracker requires an active Tractive subscription to work. The subscription cost is the same regardless of which tracker model you choose.
Feature availability also depends on subscription type. Some features like Family Sharing and worldwide coverage require Premium subscription, regardless of tracker model.
