I found a Tractive tracker. What should I do?

Thank you for finding a lost Tractive tracker! With your help, we can return it to the owner and reunite them with their pet.

If you found a pet wearing the tracker

Keep the pet safe

If you find a pet with the tracker still attached, keep them safe and comfortable. Give them a bit of water if they need it. Avoid feeding them as they might have food sensitivities. If they’ve been lost for more than 24 hours, feeding them could cause serious medical issues or could be fatal.

 

Check for other ID tags

Look at the pet's collar for other tags with the owner's phone number. If you find one, call that number first. This is the fastest way to return the pet.

 

Take the pet to a vet or animal shelter

If there are no other tags, take the pet to a nearby vet or animal shelter. They can:

  • Scan for a microchip (many pets have one)
  • Keep the pet safe while you contact us
  • Help you find the owner

 

Contact Tractive support

Tell us the following so we can connect you with the owner:

  • You found a pet wearing a Tractive tracker
  • The tracker ID (see "Find the tracker ID" below)
  • Where you found the pet
  • Your email address and/or phone number
  • Confirm that you’re allowing us to share your details with the owner

 


 

If you found just the tracker (no pet)

Find the tracker ID

Check the back of the tracker. You'll see a number with eight letters. This is the tracker ID. Write it down or take a photo of it.

Contact our support team and tell us:

  • The tracker ID
  • Where you found the tracker
  • Your email address and/or phone number
  • Confirm that you’re allowing us to share your details with the owner

We'll contact the owner and let them know you found their tracker.

 


 

Frequently asked questions

Should I try to look up the owner myself?

No need. When you contact us with the tracker ID, we can find the owner in our system and connect them with you. This is faster and protects the owner's privacy.

What if the tracker is broken or damaged?

That's okay. Contact us with the tracker ID anyway. The owner will still want their tracker back, and we can help them get a replacement if needed.

What if I can't get the tracker to turn on?

The battery might be dead. That's fine. The tracker ID is all we need to find the owner. Contact us with the tracker ID.

Will I get a reward for returning the tracker?

Some owners may offer a reward, but this is up to them. The most important thing is helping reunite them with their pet or their tracker. Many owners are very grateful!

Can I keep the tracker if no one claims it?

No. The tracker is connected to the owner's account and only works with their subscription. It won't work for anyone else. Please contact us so we can return it to the owner.

What if I found the tracker a while ago?

That's okay. Contact us with the tracker ID even if you found it days or weeks ago. The owner may still be looking for it.

Do I need to mail the tracker back to Tractive?

No. We'll help arrange for the owner to get their tracker directly from you. You don't need to mail it to us.

I found a pet but they don't have a Tractive tracker. Can you still help?

If the pet doesn't have a Tractive tracker, we can't help find the owner. Please take the pet to a local vet or animal shelter. They can scan for a microchip and help find the owner.
