Why does Tractive charge a subscription fee?
Great question! The Tractive GPS Tracker contains an integrated SIM card, which connects the tracker to the local cellular network in your area. Thanks to this active network connection, GPS location and other data about your pet can be sent to the Tractive servers and then straight to the Tractive GPS app in the palm of your hand in real-time - it works just like sending an SMS.
Similar to a cellphone, the SIM card generates mobile service fees. The subscription plan fee allows us to cover this cost and offer you a PREMIUM GPS tracking service that works over any range, in real-time, in over 150 countries worldwide.
We're working hard to keep this fee as low as possible for our customers. Currently, the cost of a Tractive GPS subscription plan is roughly equivalent to buying one of your favorite cups of coffee each month. We think this is a small price to pay in exchange for the safety and well-being of your four-legged friend - plus your peace of mind.
Payment Plan Options
Tractive offers several different subscription plan options, which are always listed transparently at Tractive.com/plans.
- On the BASIC subscription plan, you can pay monthly, yearly, or every two years.
- On the PREMIUM subscription plan, you can pay yearly, every two years, or every 5 years.
By paying in advance for one, two, or five years, your purchase enables us to offer the high-quality, premium tracking service that you've come to expect from Tractive - the world leader in GPS trackers for dogs and cats.

Renewal & Cancellation
At the end of the prepaid subscription plan period, your subscription will be automatically renewed in order to provide uninterrupted service to the tracker when you need it most - so you can always track your four-legged friend.
You can view, manage, modify, or cancel your subscription plan anytime in your account settings at my.tractive.com. Once you cancel the subscription, automatic renewal will be turned off and you can continue to use the tracker until the end of the prepaid subscription period.
How can I purchase a Tractive GPS subscription plan?
You can activate your new tracker by purchasing a Tractive subscription plan. If you purchase your tracker from Tractive.com, you'll have the option to purchase a subscription plan immediately after purchasing your tracker. If you do so, one week will be added onto your subscription plan once the tracker has left our facilities to cover the shipping time.
If you buy the tracker from a retailer or choose not to activate a subscription plan along with your tracker purchase, follow the steps below to purchase your subscription plan:
- Make sure you have the tracker handy when you begin the activation process - you will be asked to enter the tracker ID, which is made up of eight letters and can be found on the back of the device.
- Download the Tractive GPS app on your smartphone or tablet, or visit my.tractive.com.
- Create an account, sign in, and select Activate a Tracker to be taken through the simple process of purchasing your subscription plan. Once you've done this, your tracker will be ready to go and you can start tracking your favorite fur-buddy.
Prepaid subscription plans are nonrefundable, except within the two week period after the date of purchase or renewal. In the case of cancellation after two weeks, your subscription will still be valid until the end of the period for which it was activated.
