What is Strava?

Anyone can use the Strava app to record activities like running, cycling, and walking and share their stats and photos with friends. Track your walk with Tractive
After successfully linking your Tractive and Strava accounts, any walk you track using the Tractive Walk feature will now automatically synchronize with your Strava account and you’ll see the activity in your Strava feed. To track a walk:
- Open the Tractive GPS app.
- On the Map screen, tap Walk on the bottom bar.
- You’ll now see your path being recorded in the app. Remember that the Walk feature relies on your cell phone's GPS.
- Once you're done walking, simply tap the End button. Each recorded walk must be at least one minute long and cover a distance of more than one meter. The maximum duration for a walk is six hours. Once this limit is reached, the walk will be automatically stopped and saved.
Note: Previous walks tracked before linking your account to Strava will not be uploaded.

FAQs
Is Strava free to use?
Yes, Strava is a free app with no charge for recording and sharing activities. Strava also offers subscriptions if you wish to unlock additional features.
How does the synchronization with Strava work?
Once you’ve connected your accounts, your walks will be automatically synchronized to Strava without any manual effort required on your part.
Walks are only synced during the time you're connected to Strava. Walks recorded before establishing the connection or after disconnecting won't be synchronized. However, walks already uploaded to Strava will remain in your account even after the connection has been removed.
What should I do if the Walk button is unavailable in the Tractive app?
If the Walk button is grayed out (or you don’t see the button at all), please ensure that:
- your pet type in your Pet Profile is set to "Dog"
- your phone is connected to the internet.
- the tracker is switched on with adequate battery.
- the tracker is linked to your account. (Note: Walks cannot be initiated with trackers shared via Family Sharing)
Why does my walk in the Tractive app differ from what’s shown on Strava?
As Tractive and Strava use different tracking and mapping software, you might notice some slight variations between the walk in your Tractive Walk History compared to how it appears in Strava.
Strava and Tractive calculate total duration differently. Strava displays 'moving' time, accounting only for active walking time, excluding pauses. Tractive Walks count the full elapsed time from start to finish, including breaks. To see the complete elapsed time on Strava, go to your activity, tap View Analysis, and you'll find it aligns with Tractive’s displayed duration.
