Using the Tractive GPS Skill on your Amazon Alexa device

You're already using an Amazon Alexa device and are ready to start using it with your Tractive GPS tracker and app? If so, this guide is for you!

With Alexa's help, you can quickly find out the last known location of your beloved furry friend. 

Read on to learn more about using the Tractive GPS skill for your Amazon Alexa device.

First, you'll need to make sure that the Tractive GPS skill is enabled in Alexa:

How can I get the Tractive GPS Alexa skill?

1. Open the Amazon Alexa app on your smartphone.
2. In the menu, tap Skills & Games. Tap the search icon in the upper right hand corner and in the search field, type in Tractive GPS.
3. Select the Tractive GPS skill and then Enable to use.
4. Sign into your Tractive GPS account as prompted.
5. After successfully signing in, Tractive GPS should now be enabled on your Alexa device/app.

How can I use the Tractive GPS skill?

Once the Tractive GPS skill has successfully been enabled on your Alexa device, you're ready to start using the skill via Alexa.

Note: Just like using a normal app on your smartphone, you must open the skill before you can make commands within the skill.

1. First, make sure Alexa is turned on.
2. Ensure that the Tractive GPS skill is enabled by following the steps in the section above.
3. Ask Alexa to open the Tractive GPS skill with one of the launch commands, for example: "Open/Start Tractive"
   • After the welcome message, you can continue with one of the following questions: 
     
     • "Where is my dog/cat?"
     • "Where is ___ (pet name)?"
     • "Find my dog/cat"
4. OR, you can directly ask Alexa the following questions:
   • "Alexa, ask Tractive where is my dog/cat"
   • "Alexa, ask Tractive where is ___ (pet name)"
   • "Alexa, ask Tractive to find my dog/cat"
   • "Alexa, ask Tractive to find ___ (pet name)"
   • "Alexa, ask Tractive where my dog/cat is"
   • "Alexa, ask Tractive where ___ (pet name) is"

You can continue communicating with the Tractive GPS Alexa skill as long as the blue light remains illuminated.
