How to interpret the LED lights on your Tractive DOG 6

This article is tailored for owners of our latest tracker, the Tractive DOG 6. If you have a different Tractive tracker model, please refer to the article linked here. 

 

Your tracker features two LED bars, one at the top and one at the bottom, designed to help you understand the current status of your tracker.

If you press the power button once briefly, you’ll see both LED bars light up simultaneously.

  • The top LED bar displays the status of your tracker's network connection (1) and GPS signal (2)
  • The bottom LED bar shows the current battery level (3)

 

Check Network & GPS Connection Status

To check your tracker’s network and GPS connection status, simply press the power button briefly. The top LED bar will illuminate, providing you with information about the connectivity. Here’s what the lights indicate:

 

Green - Green

Green on left (1) shows good network. Green on right (2) shows good GPS. The tracker knows its GPS location and can send it to your phone. 

Everything works as it should. You are ready to start tracking.

 

Red - Green

The tracker knows its GPS location, but cannot connect to cellular networks to send it to your phone.

Try moving your device to an area with good cellular network connection.

 

Green - Red

The tracker is connected to cellular networks, but cannot detect its GPS location. Your device might be indoors or in an area with limited GPS coverage, like a forest.

If you are indoors with your device, go outside, wait for a minute, and press the power button to check the GPS status again.

 

Red - Red

The tracker does not know its GPS location, and cannot connect to cellular networks.

If you are indoors, go outside, wait for a minute, and press the power button to check the GPS and network status again.

 

White - White

The tracker is in a Power Saving Zone tied to your Wi-Fi or Tractive Base Station.

LIVE Tracking will become available again once your tracker moves out of the Power Saving Zone.

 

Blue - Blue

There is water in the USB-C port of your device and it cannot be charged.

Open the charging port and allow it to dry. Further tips here. 

 

 

Check Battery Level

A brief press on the power button will also show you the current battery level of your tracker. The bottom LED bar (3) will light up white to indicate the battery level.

Troubleshooting

If the red lights on the top LED bar (1 + 2) persist, try restarting the app and resetting the tracker:

  • Hold the power button down for 10 seconds.
  • Release the power button.
  • The LED will light up for 2 seconds and you will hear a high-pitched tone.This means your tracker has been successfully reset.
  • Once reset, give the tracker around 10 minutes to connect to local cell networks and determine accurate GPS positions.
  • Try a short test walk outside with the tracker in hand and LIVE Tracking activated.
